"The greatest mistake in the treatment of diseases is that there are physicians for the body and physicians for the soul, although the two cannot be separated."
- Plato, Charmides, 380 BC

Behavioral Medicine is the branch of psychology that focuses on the interaction of the mind and the body.

Many biological diseases have a psychological component.

Some examples of this interaction are:

  • anxiety in heart disease
  • depression in diabetes
  • stress in hypertension
